Hard Drive installation

I have a Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD3200AAKS 320GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive and I could use some help in installing it into my computer casing.

Can you post the specifications of the machine you are attempting to install this harddrive into?

Sure, I am trying to connect it to my motherboard which is an Asus M2N-SLI Deluxe which has a IDE socket but there isn't one on the hard drive.

SATA hard drives connect to SATA ports on the motherboard using a SATA data cable.

From the Asus site:

Quote:
SATA on the Go
The M2N-SLI Deluxe supports the next-generation hard drives based on the Serial ATA (SATA) 3Gb/s storage specification, delivering enhanced scalability and doubling the bus bandwidth for high-speed data retrieval and saves. The external SATA port located at the back I/O provides smart setup and hot-plug functions. Easily backup photos, videos and other entertainment contents on external devices.

Dual RAID
The NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI™ chipsets incorporate six Serial ATA connectors with high performance RAID functions in RAID 0, 1, 0+1, 5 and JBOD. The JMicron JMB363 controller provides another two Serial ATA connectors for RAID 0, 1, and JBOD functions. This motherboard is the ideal solution to enhance hard disk performance and data back up protection without the cost of add-on cards.
