partition unallocated space

Hi.. just installed a Seagate 160MB IDE drive in a new build. My Windows XP installation disc asked if I wanted to partition the disk, and I selected half of it for the C: drive, assuming it would format the other half as D: After all XP installed, only 1/2 the HD recognized. I installed Seagate's "Disc Wizard", and in it's help files there states a way to partition and fomat the unallocated space, but no-where in the tools can I find the selection for doing this. And Seagate "Support" is closed until the 26th.

Do I have to start from scratch (re-format the HD as one partition, etc, and re-load XP)?, or have to purchase "Partition Magic" or some such program? Anything in XP that finds unallocated space?

Any help appreciated.

Thank you,

very easy solution my friend:

Just click start>control panel>administrative tools>computer management>in the list select disk management

You will now see every type of drive. Where your hd is you shuold see the unallocated space

Right click it select which kind of partition you want and you can create your partition right there.

Right Click on My Computer, go to Manage, Click on Disk management. There it should show the unpartitioned space and you can format it there.
