splat Hard Drive Cooling is it nessisary? Or just a bonus if you can do it?

Greetings,

Whats the best company to buy from for Hard Drive Cooling?

Hard Drive Cooling is it really beneficial? Or mostly a way to cool your computers overall ambient temperature?

Having a reduced temperature is always good with computers but is this just an over clocking thing. In other words if I don't do over clocking does that mean I don't need to worry about a Hard Drive Cooler? And could I run into issues with hurting things by having too many coolers and stuff?

Is this necessary? Or depending on how advanced a system I am building do I indeed need to indeed worry about heat?

Do you have to calculate the right sizes for these due to some hard drives not fitting to its dimensions?

Any first hand experiences with Hard Drive Cooling welcome in responses, or tips to live by!

As long as your system has some airflow in it, I wouldn't worry about dedicated hard drive coolers. Drives do not get overly warm like CPUs or video cards.

That's a good question...sorry, but I don't have a good answer.

If you have a hot running hard drive (like a 15,000 RPM SCSI HDD) then you do need active hard drive cooling to keep the hard drive temps under control. For normal 7200 and 10,000 RPM HDDs you really don't need active cooling.

As long as your case cooling setup is pretty decent you shouldn't have to worry about the hard drive overheating. In fact, I have 8 hard drives in external housings that have no active cooling (no fans) and all 8 hard drives still run fine even after hours of use.

You can actually have too many case fans in the case...if the placement of the fans isn't carefully thought out you could have dead spots or fans that have air flow that fight each other. I find that using the least amount of fans in carefully chosen spots works best.

With all modern computers you do have to have some kind of active cooling system to help manage case temperatures.

Huh? Don't know what you're asking here.
