Buying 2nd internal IDE hard drive, Seagate or Western Digital?

Hello everyone. I stumbled on this site will looking at newegg.com for some upgrade components for my computer. I'm looking to get a 2nd internal HDD for my machine and can't decide between a Seagate or Western Digital. I'm probably going to go with a 500GB capacity, and it will be an IDE connection. below are a couple that I'm considering:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822148135
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822136110

Now I know that the Seagate has a longer warranty than the WD, but I'm *somewhat* hesitant with Seagate since the original HDD in my dell was a Seagate and it failed, but thankfully within warranty. It was replaced with a Hitachi Deskstar 60 GB, which is still in the tower and will be used as the primary drive. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

I would, and do go with Seagate: they are very good drives. Remember though that even the best drive company can have a failure or two.

I agree with TR. I used to use WD exclusively but they went thru a period where an entire series of hdd's were failing in large numbers. Since that time I've switched to Seagate and have yet to have a failure on any of my customers or my own hdd's.

Sounds like what I went through with IBM's Deskstar HDDs. I also had a bunch of Western Digital HDDs die out in the computers I installed them in.

Same with me...since I started using only Seagate about 3 years ago I haven't had one failure yet.

thanks for the quick replies. Looks like I'll give the Seagate a try.
