SATA and IDE drives

hi guys,

Just put built a new comp, I am using Seagate SATA HDD, and I have an old IDE drive that has some files that I need. I need to copy those file into the SATA HDD, but the system doesn't recognize IDE HDD. Any idea how I go about to make the system recognize IDE HDD. BIOS doesn't pick up IDE HDD, therefore, could not see it in my computer either.

Here's the specs:

Mobo: Asus Maximus formula

HDD: Seagate 320GB SATA 3Gb/s

CPU: intel E6850

thanks for all your help.

Newer Intel chipsets don't have native support of IDE devices and have a third party controller for that. Did you install the third party IDE controller driver from the motherboard driver CD?

The JMicron (JMB) controller has to be enabled in the main system bios and be set to IDE mode.

still doesn't work, I enabled J-micron in Bios, but no third party driver in the the cd that came with the motherboard. would you guys happen to know where I can go to download it? I've been searching the internet but no luck so far.
One more problem, my keyboard suddenly stopped working, and when I when into device manager, I got "device driver missing or corrupted, code 39". Most of the posts on here that has the keyword code 39, has something to to with cd/dvd drive, I don't know if that is the same solution for my keyboard problem. Thanks a lot for all your help guys, I just haven't had much luck with computer lately.
