Need opinions whether to install a side fan.
I want to install a side fan in my case cuz it doesn't have one. I just bought a 80mm fan and put it in the back already but it's not strong.
I want to keep my case cool, and that is why i want a side fan and one on the back. However, having a side fan will bring most of the dust into the case and get on my cpu heatsink/fan and AGP. So should I install a side fan? or show me how to keep most of the dust out. |

If you're not having problems with it over heating, then I wouldn't worry about adding a fan.

Dust is inevitable. I second what shadowpr mentioned. Also make sure you have good airflow thru your case e.g your cables are neat.

If you install a side fan, wouldn't you install it so it pulls hot air out of the case? That wouldn't let any dust in.

I don't use filters because they clog up quickly and need to be cleaned very often. If you don't do this regularly the air flow through the filter can be reduced to zero air flow...not good for your computer. Cricket

i hear used dryer sheets work good for filtering dust and allowing air flow... and if they clog up just wash yer clothes and get another one when the dryer is done just remember Used dryer sheets cause the new ones have fabric softner on them which could possibly do negative things to your pc..... although it would smell nice!

i have a side fan. and i cut a dyson hover filter to size,,(to fit over it ),, the sucsion keeps it in place,, but i place it over the fan with piece of tape to make sure.. I take it of and clean it once a week.. and it works a treat.
