I would like some suggestions on after market cpu cooler for a Intel Q6600...I know it will void the warranty but I would still like to look for a possible replacement given it will cool the cpu as good as or better. I am also looking to add some "cool" looks to my build as well!
I would appreciate any advice. Thanks! |

If you really care about looks: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16835118019
If you're not over clocking though, I seriously would just stick to the stock cooler. You can even do a slight oc with the stock heatsink. If you're looking for a better cooler than what I posted, then post back, and I'll link you to some better ones.

I have a Zalman 9500a and it keeps my AMD 5000 at 25c idle while over clocked to 3.0ghz.

A zalman 9500 or 9700 is generally regarded as one of the best CPU coolers around, I have a 9500 and it is nearly silent. The difference being that the 9700 has a 110mm fan where as the 9500 has a 92mm fan.

If you want really excellent air cooling I'd look at Thermalright (not Thermaltake) heatsinks.

The best you can get, last I checked, was the ThermalRight Ulta 120 Extreme. The IFX-14 might be better then that, but I don't remember. Wasn't looking at it too much since it's huge. The next best offering is the Ultima-90. It's smaller then the U120-e, but provides very good cooling.
Just remember, none of these come with fans, thus they need to be purchased separately. |
