too hot c2d?

Hey guys,

i got me a new rig (in sig)

it was built recently around a few weeks ago but the guy needed some money so had to sell it.

everything fine with it exept im a little concearned about the cpu temps.

he has put an aftermarket cooler on...like this one but heatsink is round

but the temps are too high you think?
he has overclocked it.

what do you recomend i do? it hasnt effected anything ive been playing cod for ages and it doesnt lock up or anything?
the processor is core 2 duo e6300 @ 2.3Ghz

Definately running hot.

Either lower the overclock, or you need a better after market cooler.

I thought Intel TAT always reported high temps since it is reading the digital temp from the on-die thermistor. If you check the BIOS it should be lower.

Could most likely be a bad heatsink fan attachment. When you say that your HSF is not round,could you be describing a stock Intel unit? Regardless...those temps. seem high for ANY properly installed HSF. Check that mounting for too much/too little thermal past possibly?

Not sure if tat reads it high, but if I see the temps in the 70's, I would make sure I would change something.

I usually use coretemp, and stress my cpu to get my readings. You could try that. If it's at 70 or above, then you might want to do something about it like I said before.

Yeah, my laptops Core Duo runs idle 50C according to TAT, must be improperly installed heatsink/fan speed too slow.

Its not a stock intel fan,Its made by Akasa...heres my rigs picture.




im gonna get some AS5 and re-apply thermal paste....the guy i purchased the machine off said it needed re-doing.
