Best Back-up???
My 200gig HDD holds my "My Documents" folder, which holds all my anime, pictures, and iTunes music. What is the best way to back-up the data every week in case of HDD failure?

If you're worried about drive faliure, the best way to backup large files is with a second harddrive. You could get a smaller one for less than $50. Just keep the stuff you want backed up in one file, and every week copy and paste that file into the 2nd hdd. I'm sure there are programs that could do it for you (probably even in windows already), but they say if you want something done right, do it yourself.

I think I might do that. I have an old 80gig HDD sitting around. Could get an external enclosure and just do that. Thanks

If you're referiing to just your "my doc" folder, you can backup directly to CD/DVD depending on size. If it's to big to do that reasonably, then backing up to another drive as mentioned above. If you go with another drive, then you might as well do a full system backup.

If you have an old 80 gig drive, you can put it in an Apricorn housing - it comes with an OEM version of Acronis True Image. The IDE housing is backordered at Newegg right now.

I just bought an external enclosure at CompUSA because it was cheap.

Good luck. The cheap housings don't have a very good track record, the USB bridge circuits can be quite temperamental.

Ah, that sucks. Well, when I get money to upgrade my rig, I'll buy a better external enclosure.

If yours works okay, use it.
