Xcase 600w or Thermaltake 430w

I have a new Xcase 600w PSU and a new Thermaltake 430w PSU (One of these will go into my old P4 2.66 that I'm repairing for a friend). The computer I'm building has a Quad-Core, 2GB DDR2 RAM, DVD-RW, 400GB HD, MSI GeForce 8400.

In an earlier post, one person told me the 430w PSU would be fine, another said that a Thermaltake 430w PSU would not be able to handle the load. I know Thermaltake is a more solid brand than Xcase, but would the 600w PSU be better than the 430w one? And the Xcase PSU has only one large fan on the inside...the Thermaltake has two. Thanks

If you used the PSU calculator and it said the 430 W would be ok, I say go for it. But make sure you have decent airflow going thru the case (ie. neat wires/cables, fans)

I wouldnt use a 430W Thermaltake on a quad core, you will break something. The Thermaltake 430W only has a single 18a rail, which is very low by todays standards. Look into something from Silverstone, Corsair, Seasonic, or PC Power and Cooling. A larger single rail (32a+) or a good multirail (18a+ each rail) should be very good.

I found a Cooler Master Extreme 600 watt PSU. Is this sufficient enough?

Try a corsair 520 or 620 W. Really reliable...
