I just set up a new build and transferred my iTunes library info from my old comp to my new one. iTunes opens with my complete library but can't find any of the tracks... I'm assuming this is because the external hard drive holding all my music used to be called drive (G: ) on the old comp but is now recognized as drive (E: ) on the new comp. As of right now it looks like I'll have to manually find all my song files in iTunes unless I can change the external HD name from (E: ) to (G: ) - is this possible?

Find it in Disk Management, right click on it, and change drive letter.

If the drive is shut down or disconnected, will it retain the reassigned drive letter? Or will it revert to first available the next time it's turned on?

Should remain the same. It's tied to the device so it should be the same on any port as well.
