Exclamation Help Please!!! Need Hard Drive Adapter???

Just bought this hard drive from Newegg...

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16822210003

It won't hook up to my computer......my old hard drive has an IDE ATA connection. I think that's what it's called. It looks like this....

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ShowIm...100+Hard+Drive

So, now I need an adapter or something so that I can get this to work...and I need it NOW!!!!

Any help would be very very much appreciated. Thanks

You would need a SATA to PATA converter to do that, although it would probably be just as cheap to buy a new SATA controller board. It seems that most SATA to PATA converters are made for attaching a PATA HD to a SATA motherboard, not the other way around, which is what you need.

This would do if you have a free PCI slot: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16816132012

Here is an adapter, which is more expensive than the SATA controller: http://www.satacables.com/html/sata-acessories.html

Hi rugbydawg,

Welcome to PCMech.

This is what you'd be looking for : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16816102062

Promise has a good reputation and if you tell us a little more about your rig's motherboard model, or failing that the make/model of the computer we can get more specific if necessary.

Why don't you just exchange the drive for an IDE drive? Excelstors are junk drives anyway.

MUCH better quality.

You are going to pay more than 16 bucks for a PCI card or an adapter, which is a poor way of addressing the issue.
