Some people like it.

For overclocking I would use a Thermalright heatsink.

I have the Artic Freezer 64, for the AMD. Its decent. If you plan to overclock, I also recommend Thermalright. The Freezer will need good ventalation along with it, and you can't apply your own compound.

You can use your own compound for the Artic Cooler 7 Pro, but will need to scrape off the pre-applied thermal compound. I'm using the Artic Cooler 7 Pro for two computers, one using a Pentium D 820 and one using a Pentium D 915 with both processors overclocked to 3.2GHz. My temperatures are very good with the Artic Cooler 7 Pro, with about 15 degrees C cooler at both idle and load compared to the stock heatsink/fan.

Here's my previous experience and ensuing discussion.

http://forum.pcmech.com/showthread.p...Arctic+Cooling

Since then, I've added one to a Pentium D 805 to cut down on the noise from the stock hsf and my new Q6600 (not oc'd) has one too. Both machines are Antec midtower cases and run the cpu's at 100% load 24/7 due to Folding.

That PentD950 was a real furnace so seeing those temp drops convinced me that the Freezer 7 does a good job. HTH
