Multiple format = HD failure?

Something my friend told me. He said that a friend of his reformat like several times in a short period or period, and then one time the HD just died. This got me curious because I kind of like to resolve to reformat.

So, is it?

Formatting often in a short period shouldnt harm the drive, most likely your firenind drive juat happened to fail at that time.

A hard drive failure is caused by a physical failure and not how the zeros and ones are arranged on the platter.

That one goes into the same category of defragging hurts a drive. Formatting is the same as normal use in that you are simply writing to the drive. If you do a surface scan as well, all you're doing is verifying that everything is good.

Just what are you getting at? Why so much interest in reformatting?

Versatile? Do you understand what formatting is for? High-level formatting.
