fqpissed temps?

anyone know approx. what telps i should be getting out of a x3350 (e9450) @ 400 x 8.

i am getting at idle

core 0 = 55c
core 1 = 45c
core 2 = 36c
core 3 = 36c

temps don't move much under load. none ever go above 58c even in prime95.

think i just have an a chip from a bad batch (core 0 is soooooo hot) or is this expected?

maybe i just put to much thermal paste on. it's hard to tell how much to put on. i pretty much just put a blob (about maybe .5 cubic centimeters) on the center of the chip and slapped on the heatsink.

oh i'm using an asus silent knight cooler.

thanks

The proper way to apply heatsink compound is spread a paper-thin layer over the whole top of the CPU.

Thermal paste can be tricky, I find less is better. CPU's are usualy safe up to pretty high temps but the lower the better.
