Come to the dark side Luke, use adaquate force.
An Asus that "wont" allow you to overclock?
Sorry pal, Asus and overclock are the only two words in the relm of the Asus that go together.
Be specific. Obviously, you can`t toy with the multiplier settings and therefore you must "re-adapt" the Celeron to a faster FSB.
Shut down monitoring and simply "tell" the system board your settings.
The 566 is near it`s maximum for first gen Celerons. However, Celeron2 based chips seem to fly without problem but I yet have first hand knowlege of this.
People wonder "why" I wont give up my P2B or P2BF and you now know the reasons. It does what "I" say, not what it thinks is right.

Angry

Eh Gawds,Annie That heartless witch, (the Hardware Monitor) strikes again. I just bought my latest upgrade and got it up and running. But to my surprise the ASUS doesn't want me to OC. That little known pickle of fate, steps in if you don't use the correct settings and keeps you in CMOS. Stability---crap I don't want to be babysat. At 50, I go in for another operation on what's left of my foot. Trying to get stuff ready for another year in bed doing recovery. Cordless desktop in place NOW I don't seem to have much chance to OC. How do you work around this? I got 14 days to get something going or slide deeper into insanity. Help me Obi One Canobi. ASUS P3B-F and Celeron 566 PII, fridge in bedroom w/snacks and such. Yeah the boards are stable allright they won't let you use the wrong settings. Later, I gota go flash the BIOS.

Thumbs up

Hey Toastie, I'm making progress. But a little slow I actually got it to run at 83 which is OK but not what I was expecting and I haven't found anyone that has had this problem either. My blood pressure goes right on up there when I meet with restence. 98 had a quick and painless death here in short order, went back to 95. Must be beginners luck, you know my first ASUS and my gun is already loaded. Here is hoping the bios flash does the trick cause I can't think of much else to try guy. It is running with the best of them so soon I will see.
