Changed PC's with Hard Drive Now Doesn't Work Right
I recently changed my sata seagate 320 hard drive from a Pent.4 Intel on a P4P800 ASUS motherboard to a ASUS M3A motherboard with a AMD2+ 64 processor with XP Pro. Once I connected the hard drive and tried to boot it but with no success. There was some blue screen that would pop up real fast and disappear so I could not read it and then the cursor would just blink in the upper left corner of the screen.
After that I put it back in the old computer once I got a new 478 pin for it and it keeps asking if I want to format it which I don't So on the system board it says I only have 128gb available the rest unallocated. what can I do to rescue my hard drive and get it up and running as I need to have the files and desktop files rescued if not the whole hard drive up and running like before. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks |

I think this will help: Repair Reinstallation of Windows XP (using XP CD)
Read post 3, and then after you move the hard drive over to the new motherboard, do a repair install. updateing

Using your Windows XP installation disk follow the instructions here on how to do a repair install.
