New Hard Drive Slows Me Way Down...

I have a pc I built at the beginning of the year...works great, super fast with Vista 64 Ultimate. I only installed a seagate 500 gig hd, and it is about 80% full, so I bought a wd 750 gig hd to use as the storage hd... but now the pc runs horribly slow. I have 4gb ram and it shows I am at %100 ram usage even when I am down to my minimum processes...I have 3 sata ports on my motherboard, and plugged the new hd into sata2...with the original into sata1.

It also takes like 5 solid minutes to shut down now, that is new too.

Can anyone give me a few things to try before I send back to newegg?

Seatools is for Seagate/Maxtor drives. WD Diagnostics is for WD drives.
