PC won't pick my usb cameara

When I try to download my Sony camera to pc, I see on the camera Connecting then the pc freezes up.

I don't think that my pc recognizes the camera. I do have the proper drivers installed from the disk.

You help?

Thanks

Have you tried a media reader instead of connecting the camera with a usb? Portable card readers are inexpensive and prevents having to run the camera battery while you download. Or you can do what I do with new builds and my own pc's - install a card reader in a 3.5" bay.

What would you recommend for a card reader?

I have been using this in my builds:

http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16820223072

Combo floppy drive/card reader.
