Cursor fails to follow mouse for a few seconds

A couple of weeks ago my cursor started failing to follow my mouse movements for a few seconds. Most the time the cursor freezes on my browser screen and I will whisk my mouse around for about 10 seconds waiting for it to appear.

It seems to be happening more and more and is getting intolerable.

Mouse is Logitech laser mouse.

Any solutions?

PS I think it's affecting the wheel too, cuz sometimes I'll roll it one click and it pauses before the browser will come down an inch.

PPS Also when I type text onto a field in my browser the letters often will not appear for a few seconds.

It couldnt be from doubling my RAM could it?

TIA

It's more likely some process is hogging the CPU. Check what's running in the background.

I see. In Task Mgr CPU Usage is spiking every few second to 45%. Interesting.

By background do you mean the Apps listed in Task Mgr or the things listed under Services and Startup in MSConfig or something else?

I have a LOT of services running, I shut down lots of the Startup items a while back.

Oh, hehe, you mean the list of processes in Task Mgr- I have 54 of them.

I'm not sure how to tell which processes I can do away with.

Use this site to check on items running at Startup (msconfig)

http://www.sysinfo.org/startuplist.php

Use Black Viper's guide to determine which Services you can safely Disable
