Kodak Printer---Amazing!

I do a lot of photography and thus have always been very picky about my photo printers while trying at the same time to not break the bank. Recently my Epson pretty much gave up the ghost so off I went to Micro Center to see what was available. I checked out the goodies but decided to hold off and do some research. As I was walking around I spotted a stack of Kodak all in one printers in a corner for $59 (Micro Center's like that...they have stuff on "sale" all over the place, tucked in corners)!!! I bought my daughter a Kodak camera and printer with the docking system a few years ago and she loves it.

Anyway, to make a long story longer, I bought the Kodak and couldn't be happier! I was really skeptical when I had it all hooked up and got ready to do a test print and discovered there were no tweaking capabilities! Kodak choses all the settings when printing on photo paper. This is what they do, make printers for people that just want good prints without having to configure anything. O.K. so I print out my first pic and it was just about as close to what I saw on my monitor as could be. The print quality was excellent. Color rendering and saturation were spot on!

This beats the pants off my Epson for speed (the Kodak was very quick, much like Canon) and it's vitually silent. The ink is suppopse to be 50% cheaper than other brands (about $25 total for a black and color cartridge) and has a larger capacity.

I haven't tried out the scanner or copier...just pleased as heck with the quality and speed of the printer. It even has a 3" LCD screen for computerless printing along with the card reader and has separate photo and paper drawers. It weighs in at 21 pounds and appears to be well built.

If you're looking for a ridiculously simple printing solution that's dirt cheap don't pass up the Kodak.

Thanks for the review, mplsmelo. I've always been an HP fan but the price of ink is a choker. I've heard Kodak is now selling reasonably priced ink and wondered what folks think of their printers.

I quickly used up the five 4 x 6 sampler sheets but had a pack of lower end Kodak photo paper laying around and still got great results. I've printed out about twenty pics and am still shocked how accurate the colors are to my monitor.

I would estimate a 4 x 6 print takes about 30 seconds. It's so quiet I can't tell when it's done unless I'm staring at the pic coming out!

Nice unit. Perfect for the technologically impaired ---my Dad would love it. Personally though I wish it did offer some tweaks so the user had at least some control over the finished product. Still, for $59 it's a steal!

I've heard mixed things about these Kodak units which kept me afraid from buying one.

However, I have always been intrigued by the low cost of ink and it's good to see your purchase worked out! Especially for $59. I might have to pick one up for fun.
