USB 2 ports inoperative

ISSUE: USB 2 devices not running at 2.0 on usb 2.0 portted computer

DISCUSSION: Have several "USB 2.0" devices..when initially pluigged into "USB 2.0" ports on my comput get "device cld perform faster on usb 2.0 port" message. Computer= Dell desktop with P4 2.8 ghx chip/ 2.0 gb pc ram. Control panel shows many entries under usb devices..one of which- usb 2.0 controller..comput has 6 usb ports and none allow the external device to run at 2.0 speed. WIN XP sp3= OS.

QUESTION: what is causing and how can it be corrected?

TX

Go to device manager -> USB devices

Double click the usb 2.0 controller

go to driver

choose -> roll back driver.

there r many entrues under
usb" devices in control panel..only one says 'usb2" controller..tried to update this via copntrol panel..windows didnt find another driverr.

strange that the usb2 driver wld be incorrect?

Check in bios to make sure you have usb set to Hi-Speed, not full speed.

Is this a PCI card in your computer? or a self powered hub? I had this happen with USB 2.0 hub and I had to throw it out.
