Flashed bios,now no post

Hi all,I just flashed a friends bios using the ez flash utility on an Asus M2N SLI Deluxe and now when I turn on the PC just a black screen,no post,no beeps nothing, all the fans are running but thats it.This was my old board,I gave it to a friend and he wants a quad core in it,so I flashed the bios for the new CPU support. The board was working perfectly when I had it running an X2,after the flash, dead.I followed the instructions on the asus website to the letter,I used a USB flash drive to do the job everything went the way it was supposed to,except now board dont work, lol. There is one thing the instructions said to do that didnt sound right to me,I dont recall doing this on other flashes. It said to rename the file to board type.ROM (example:M2NSLI.ROM)I recall bios files being BIN so why change to ROM.The ram,CPU,Video card are all working perfectly,I tried them in my Mobo,no problems at all.I cant even get into bios, wont let me,no matter what I try screen just stays black and the fans run.My question is is there any way to test or fix this board?Or did I kill it?anyone have any ideas?I thank you in advance for any assistance.

Have you tried to clear the cmos? You would turn the computer off, unplug the power cable, and then remove the mb battery for about 5 minutes.

If that doesn't work, then you might want to look for a new bios chip if possible. Someone else should know the site to look at.

You didn't follow the instructions, so you got a bad flash. You should not ignore an instruction like that, it's written that way for a good reason. Your bios chip is now toast. You should have questioned it BEFORE you did it.

If they would have wanted you to type BIN they would have specified it BIN.

I'm sorry - I misread it, I thought you did *NOT* change it as instructed. My bad.

Battery removal does not always clear the cmos - the right way is to use the provided jumper or sometimes it requires bridging 2 solder points on the board. The manual should address this.

If that doesn't help, the guy at badflash.com can help you, drop him an e-mail.

yes...you probably have to get a preflashed bios chip to get it going again...sorry about the bad flash...

I prefer to flash an Asus board from a flash drive...but some bios's wont flash correctly from EZ-Flash...and must be done the old way...

To me, it would be worth the 30 bucks for a new chip.

Oh,didnt realize they would be that cheap. Are they hard to remove/install?Can I get the chip with the bios all ready for quad support so I wont have to flash it?Lastly I assume I would order it through Asus? Thanks glc,the board would be worth the chip,it worked without issues before the flash,I actually had really good luck with that board......Thanks again.
