LGA 1366 - any decent mobos yet?
I know it's still early, but are ANY of these looking solid yet?
Granted, most of the griping I've seen so far is about layout - seems like everybody tried to slap theoretical tri-sli capability and 6 RAM slots around the bigger CPU socket and made early adopters mad when there wasn't room for even their one graphics card in slot #1. I'm about done tinkering with my E8400 and am thinking of moving on rather than investing in elaborate cooling for an outdated socket. I went dual core in the first place to start learning without blowing up a more expensive CPU. If the 1366 mobos are solid, then it may make sense to step up to DDR3 RAM and get a 920 to play with before the next generation comes. Otherwise, maybe just get a Q9550 to OC and tide me over until the second generation i7's and mobos are released. Unfortunately, I suspect that the LGA 775 quads won't drop much in price in the near future. Even when doing irrational upgrades I like to keep some semblance of price/performance in mind (i.e. extreme editions = stupid waste of money). Once again, I don't need any of this stuff. Just a new hobby.

none of them as of yet are 100% solid....even the Asus board mentioned...
I would wait another month yet... I know a few people who have the Asus and the Gigabyte X58 while the gigabyte seems the most reliable currently it still has issues... I would definitely wait a few more bios revisions... there is a good read at anandtech about the X58 boards and problems as well...

Thanks for input.
I'll wait another season for i7. Just picked up an E0 stepped Q9550 on ebay for $284 - hooray for no tax or shipping costs! .....supposedly it's "brand new factory sealed"......box and batch number sticker pictures looked legit.... |

Way too many bugs..........
with the i7 platform right now.
Later model 775/DDR2 boards with E0 Stepping CPUs are the way too go for now. If your looking for a solid performance build.
