Onboard Lan not detected.

I'm not sure this is the right section to ask this...

I just built a new desktop. Everything work but the internet. I cannot connect to the internet. I try to download the drivers and it say that there is not network card.

I have an Asus M3A78-EM Mobo. and it has Gigabyte Onboard Lan.

Any help would be greatly apprecieted.

My set up is:

Motherboard: M3A78-EM
Processor: AMD Phenom X4 64
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX 260
Memory: G.Skill DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500)
Operating System: Vista 64bit

Have you checked in the BIOS to see if the LAN is enabled?

Did you download the Realtek drivers for your GIGABIT LAN integrated on the motherboard?

Did you copy the drivers from the flash card onto the new computer and try installing?

I just tried it. It did not work.

When I try to download the driver it just says No Network Card exists on this machine. My link light is off in the back also.

Are there any unknown devices under Device Manager?

Could be a dead lan adapter.

No, there's no unknown devices. I can't see the Lan device unless I click "View All". Dead Lan adapter... arghh I feared this too.

Are you ABSOLUTELY SURE you have it enabled in the bios? There's more than one entry in there that may APPEAR to do it.

Okay - that is in fact enabled. I'd RMA the motherboard on warranty.

The other option is a PCI network adapter.

Anything will work as long as it's compatible with your operating system. They are very inexpensive.

Here is a link to a good PCI network card: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833127102. Seems like there are some less expensive alternatives such as Startech and Rosewill, but I've never had any experience with them, maybe someone else on this forum can inform on quality.

That D-Link is a solid low end card that's compatible with just about every operating system in existence.
