Interference sound from speakers under cpu load.

There is a constant static-like sound coming from my speakers. I've checked all around my pc for possible sources of interference with no luck. It seems that whenever I move the mouse, the interference gets worse.
I recently got a Network Router with wireless capabilities but have not enabled the broadcast. I've disconnected power to the router to see if it would fix the problem, but it didn't work. I've also checked all cables for possible interference and they all seem to work fine. I've reinstalled sound drivers and that didn't work either.
The interference is definitely coming from the speakers. When I turn them down, the sound goes away. if I lower the sound from the OS, the sound persists.
I dual boot Ubuntu 8.10/XP Pro and hear the sound in both operating systems.

Move any electrical equiptment as far away from the speakers as possible.

I already pulled power to everything around my pc to see if it would fix it. Would going the length of moving everything after it's been powered off make any difference?

update: I moved my computer to another area of the house and it didn't fix anything. I'm certain the problem is not caused by outside interference.

To describe the sound, it sounds like radio interference when I don't move mouse/ windows. The sound gets louder when I do. When I play music/ movies, I can't hear the sound at all.

There is also a strange noise coming from inside the case. I can't determine where the noise is coming from. I've disconnected the internal speaker and that did nothing. The noise seems to be coming from the CPU or Video card area of the motherboard but I just can't tell. It isn't a moving parts sound.

You have RF leakage issues. These are common when you mod a case, leave a cover off, remove the I/O shield, or lose the RF shielding clips where the cover attaches to the case. You could also have a component (such as the video card) that has a defective solder joint on it somewhere, creating its own RF leakage.

update: I found that the video card is the component making the sound. It only makes the noise in XP and when I uninstall the drivers, the noise goes away. What does this mean?

As for the sound coming from the speakers, I can't seem to find the source. It started when I was changing some sound properties in Ubuntu. I've reinstalled the Realtek drivers in XP and it didn't work. Is it possible that my windows installation could have been corrupted from Linux?

Might be a bad set of XP drivers. ATI drivers have been a pain in the @$$ for a few years now. It could also be bad chipset drivers or sound drivers.

Are you overclocking either the CPU or the video card?

I'm not overclocking. is my card defective or do you think it's the drivers?
How do I fix the sounds when I move the mouse? I've been googling all day and have found no help.

I had the same problem with my M3A. Try muting "PC Beep" on the volume control.

I had a mouse that would cause a buzzing in my speakers. The sound lever would change with different mouse functions. Do you have another mouse to try?
