Question Which RAID Controller?

Hello,

I will be building a new system soon and have already purchased an Asus P5Q motherboard. This board has two RAID controller and I'm wondering which one to use; the ICH10R or the SIllicon Image controller.

I have hard it said that the Silicon Image device does all array calculations in hardware and requires no drivers, but this is not verified.

Any advice or tips apreciated.

I'd use the ICH10R.

OK, but why is this the better choice?

The Sil is a Drive Xpert controller, not a traditional RAID controller. Tests show that it's slower than the ICH10R.
