problem detecting drives (new build)
I ran the RAID setup and everything seemed to go correctly.
The BIOS correctly detects my RAID array and all of my other drives. BUT, when I boot to an A:\ prompt, My non-raid drive is seen as drives c/d (partitioned) my floppy is A and my cd is E. The RAID drives aren't available or visible. I want to install win98 to the RAID drives, but I am not sure how to proceed. I know that my drive letters were a bit screwy in my old box, when in DOS, but I don't want to end up installing windows on my back up drive. Any ideas? |

I csn't get c:/ to format. i have fdisked, created primary and extended partitions and I still cannot format the c: drive
disregard; I was able to boot w/ my 98 cd and let it format the HD. STill don't know what the problem was, but...... Last edited by nightfishing; 11-09-2001 at 05:59 PM. |

ok, here's where I am.
Without my NON RAID drive connected, I can access/see the RAID drives as C:/ But, when I out the other drive in, it becomes C:/ and the RAID drives disappear. |

well, if I can figure this one out, everything else was pretty slick.
In my old box I had 2 HDs. One had my OS's installed on it and the second just data. I am trying to use the second one in my new box, but whenever I connect it, my RAID drives disappear. I have the jumpers set the same as it was in my old box. It is alone on the Primary IDE set as master. The RAIDs are on 3 and 4 and work fine w/o the other drive hooked up. I need to figure out how to get the RAID drives recognized. with the third drive plugged in. I have a hunch that if I installed 98 on the new drives, I will be ok, but I am trying to avoid that. I have my 98lite setup files on the other hd, and would like to just do a clean install ONCE. |
