Random freezes :(

So I just swapped my mobo for an msi P45 platinum and my power supply for an antec truepower quattro 850w, and switched from vista 32 to 64. I've basically just been screwing around on the desktop downloading drivers for a couple of hours now, and 3 times my screen froze. You can hear the processor stop working and the screen literally freezes without any distortion whatsoever.

I hit the reset button and it resets, begins to power up for like 5 seconds and shuts itself off. It then starts itself back on and the computer starts running but the monitor recieves no signal so it stays off. I can leave it there but you can tell the processor is not doing anything, just the fans running and computer on with a black screen.

Again... same thing
Again... same thing with the turning off and on then it finally sends signal to the monitor and boots normally.

I keep working, and then like an our or two later.... boom, happens again.
Now it's happening even more often I feel... it froze as the desktop was loading on boot like 4 times in a row. Now it's been good for like 30 min. but I'm sure it's only a matter of time.
I have no idea where to start looking. It's a fresh install and all the drivers are totally new.

Please help

Thanks in advance

Have you checked your temps for overheating? Are you OC'ing?

Yeah, I've been monitoring temps and i'm not overclocking. I thought maybe it was something to do with the vista 64 I just installed so I tried a clean boot with my old vista ultimate 32 and it froze on my while trying to install from boot 3 times. I flashed my bios with the newest version and still same problem. Tried my memory stick by stick and so far same problem. My cpu and videocard both worked fine before I put in the new mobo and power supply. Something is telling me it's a problem with the mobo and I'm gonna have to rip it out and send it in and be without a computer for 2 weeks .

Anybody have any ideas what else it could be!?!?

Have you run any kind of memory diagnostics? Have you checked to make sure the ram voltage is being set correctly? Have you tried slowing the ram down some manually? Trying to run 1066 ram with a 1066 processor is very often not stable, that's a 2:1 ram/cpu ratio. You *should* have purchased DDR2-800 ram that can run at 1.8 or 1.9 volts, not that overclocker's ram that you bought.

Send a message via MSN to MaxRat
that ram does require 2.1 volts according to newegg...it wont run right with the default 1.8v

and some boards default to 1.7v from a CMOS clear...

Well I tried throwing in 800mhz fsb ram in, even though it still have a voltage of 2.1, and problems are gone!!

Been on the computer like 8 hours a day for like 3 days now and not 1 freeze.
