I have 4 DIMMS in my board, all 512. Two are PC2700 and two are PC2100. They are in alternating slots as recommended by ASUS. Having the 2100's in there, is this causing all the dimms to run at the 2100 speed? They are all from different manufacturers too
. Everything is stable even oc'ed from 3ghz to 3.4 but I dont notice any difference going from 1gig of 2700 to 2gigs mixed. And why the hell is 184pin memory almost TWICE the cost of DDR2?? It would cost me $130 to get to 4gigs with my outdated configuration!

that is the reason, it is out dated and thus more expensive, less demand for it.or worth more for the same reason.

And yes, they are all running at the speed of the slowest module.

I did some memory benchmarks in Everest using different combinations. Heres what I found:
Pentium 4 HT 3.0 oc'ed to 3.3ghz / BUS @ 220 / 4 DIMM Slots /Same processes running after restart for each test / All sticks are 512MB --> Slots occupied in order from left to right: 1.| PC2700 | PC2100 | PC2700 | PC2100 | Read - 2803 Write - 1026 Latency - 142.8 2. | PC2700 | EMPTY | PC2700 | EMPTY | Read - 3156 Write - 1423 Latency - 124.2 3. | PC2700 | PC2700 | PC2700 | EMPTY | Read - 3086 Write - 1356 Latency - 129.8 The best combo turned out to be the least amount of RAM 512 x2 @ 2700. It also runs FarCry the best of the 3 combos. |
