Operation Cable Management
Grr 5 image limit. Here's the link to the gallery if you want to see the rest of them: http://img35.imageshack.us/gal.php?g=img2309j.jpg
So, I wasn't really happy with my cable management from my new build about a month ago. I swore I would do a better job with this one than my last one, but I suppose I got caught up in the moment and wanted to get the computer up and running ASAP. Well, I went back and did everything right, and here's how it went. Here she is before the operation. Pretty awful actually, now that I look back on it. ![]() ![]() Had to modify the case a bit, which is probably why I hadn't done this sooner. It's an Antec 900, and as you can see it only has two cable openings, and they're not very useful alone. So, I cut one hole right at the base of the PSU, and another right under the CPU. Yeah, I used some electrical tape to protect the edges. Not the greatest, but it works. ![]() Didn't get many in-between photos, but here's the post-op. One thing in particular probably jumps out at you...thanks to the bottom-mounted PSU configuration of the Antec 900, my CPU power cable was about an inch short of being able to reach. So it's in its previous position still...going to see if I can buy a little extension to that cable so I can fix it up (suggestions welcome). ![]() Looks much better now, for sure. I also took my i7 920 from 3.80GHz to 4.0GHz, while dropping about 3C on my idle and load temps. I was hoping the load temps of my 4870 would also drop a bit, so I could lower the fan speed, but they didn't budge much. Either way, I'm happy with the results and proud of my baby

I really need to improve cable management. The worse part for me about building a computer.
