Question Printing from Win2000 pc to shared printer on Win98.

Is it possible to print from a Windows 2000 pc to a Lexmark 5700 printer that I have setup as shared on a Windows98 machine. I am seeing the printer out on the network and connecting to it fine. But when I try to print the job keeps saying it is refreshing/spooling and nothing comes out on the printer. The driver on the Win98 machine for this printer is for Windows 9x, I downloaded a driver for Win2k for the Windows 2000 pc. Could the problem be that the Windows98 pc has a Win9x driver and not a Win2k driver.

Thanks.

I had similar problem with my lexmark printer. This may or may not help but I would suggest trying another printer if you can borrow one. This may save you alot of wasted energy trying all the various configs. I now have an epson printer and my network ( 2 pcs) accepted and operated first time.

Printer

You might also try hooking the printer up to the Win 2K machine instead of the win98 unless there is a specific reason for not doing so. Or sometimes if you are on the Win 2K machine and open a document you want to print, then go to "file" and then "print" and then "find printer" and look for the printer on the network Win 2K might just accidentally install the right driver.
