Hi guys! Just a simple question, anybody know the average CPU temperature in a Laptop? Mine is always arroud 60°C. I would like to overclock it a little bit but I wouldn't risk to much! I'm also considering to upgrade to a PIII 800-900 but I can buy only from web-stores in Europe otherwise is not worth to much to pay in importation taxes. Any suggestion is welcome. |

I don't think overclocking it would be a good idea the reading you give is already hot enough!.. besides I would imagine that efficient extra cooling for a laptop would be a problem.
In my opinion upgrading from a 700mhz celeron to a 800-900 PIII would not give you that much of a performance boost. If you’re intent on upgrading though I would recommend a Toshiba or a Dell. I don't know where you can get a hold of a Toshiba locally but they're quite popular so I'm sure you'll find them around somewhere. As for Dell .. they have a plant in Ireland so I don’t think you’ll be paying any import taxes and you can order them online.. they have a separate page for a lot of European countries .. just check out www.dell.com |

Thanks Shikwa, you are confirming what I thought, the CPU is already quite warm but since I upgraded the memory from 128Mb to 320Mb is getting better, it didn't boost it to much but the I feel the CPU working better and now the temperature almost never rise over 60°C. I don't know if I'll upgrade the CPU, but I'll not overclock because ASUS doesn't provide the jumpers for my MOBO and the BIOS is blocked so to increase the Mhz I guess I should first change the Bios...! Forget it, to difficult for a beginner as me. Thanks mate! Paolo |
