DVD drives stays open

I tranfered all the guts to a different case and now the DVD/CD drive stays open all the time. Even if I put a disk in, it closes, but then opens back up. The case is a different color, so I did change the face plate on the DVD drive and to do that I had to use a pin to open the drive. Could this have caused the problem? Any way to fix it? I can physically push the drive shut by closing it and then not letting it open. But it doesnt recognize the disc when I do this (I know this may not be good for the drive, but the problem existed before I got rough with it.)

Sounds like maybe you pushed the pin in to far....Guess it wouldn't hurt to stick the pin back in and gently push around to get the switch to unstick.

Yep, it's a mechanical thing. The pin pushes a release lever. the lever is most likely not returning to it's origiinal position, therefore the drive opens. It maybe broken spring, a spring that has come loose, or ...it's just stuck.

You may have to pull the face plate back off to see the problem.
