CD/DVD drive semi gone
I had not used the CD drive in quite awhile (month or 2 or 3?) I tried to insert a CD this morning and the door wouldnt open..I could hear it 'working', so i looked a round a little bit...went to My Computer and---it wasnt there...it showed my HD and my external HD OK...went to device manager and I get this Location 0 (0)
What the heck do I do now? I did a CClean a couiple weeks ago...and thats all I can think of that's any different... TIA bob |

It most likely is telling you its days are done. You can try opening the case and reseating the cables.

thanks GLC...the cables are clearly OK because I can peek in the bay and see the green light on as if it was 'trying" to work...
same sad diagnosis from you ? edit---and is there a consensus as to what to order for a new one? clearly i dont use it much...thanks Last edited by traderbob; 10-03-2009 at 03:29 PM. |

Is it IDE or SATA, and what color faceplate do you need?
You do need to reseat the cables, not just give it a visual. |
