Adding 4 GB RAM

When I upgraded to Windows 7 I also made the upgrade to 64 bit. So now I figure it makes sense to maximize the RAM on my motherboard...which is 8 GB. I'm not sure how much performance I will actually see out of this, but may as well.

This is what I put in two of the slots when I first built the PC 1 year ago...

They were 50% off at Frys and have worked fine.

I figured ideally I would add the same RAM for the other 2 slots, but they no longer carry this at Frys. $96 seems a bit steep...but maybe not.

Suggestions? Should I go with the same RAM? Does it matter?

The most intense thing I do is video editing...but that's pretty rare. I use it mostly for general computing purposes...internet, photos, word processing, video streaming. Maybe the extra RAM is overkill?

Look in Task Manager->Performance tab to see how much ram you're using now. If its way of 3 gigs then adding more might make sense.

Adding 4 GB RAM

Hi Guitar,
I seen your need and the requirement. As per my knowledge you are not all needed to increase it to 8Gb it will be enough if you have 4Gb. If still you what to increase I prefer to purchase a graphics card instead of ram. With this the graphics of your computer will be good and the speed will also increase as the graphics load which is on the ram will be diverted to Graphics card. Your requirement is just basic not so high to increase the ram upto 8GB.
