epson 777 and ink
hello, anyone who has one of these probaBLY KNOWS WHAT i AM ASKING.
It seems that when using this model, the color ink gets used as the black ink is being used. What I mean, is, if you have it set at black only, the color ink cartidge will still go down. Its not my printer so I have only looked at it once. But the settings looked ok. It shouldn't be using color ink but does. I am looking for a way around this. To save my friend some money. They NEVER use color, and yet they have to keep buying color cartridges. Any ideas? thanks |

Did you go to printers and then right click on that printer and try to adjust the properties? If so and this still does this I would definitly sell it and buy another. I recommend getting an HP.

When you are printing black, then only the black ink is used. However, everytime you turn your printer on it does a cleaning cycle on both the black and color printheads, and occasionally while the printer is in use. This is where the color ink is being used. My suggestion is to leave the printer turned on all of the time and this will save ink.

Rick - the only problem with this is that Epson printers do not like being left on when you reboot the computer. We have found that this can damage the logic board in the printer. We recommend that with an Epson, you turn the printer off before rebooting or shutting down, and waiting till you are in Windows before turning it back on. Epsons need to have the head cleaning and priming cycles run frequently anyway to prevent clogs.

I've owned my epson 600q for 4 years and never a problem. I leave it on 24/7 through boot ups, etc, etc. It does go through a head cleaning process when you fisrt use it after sitting idle for a while. This depletes both ink chambers somewhat.

Sorry GLC
I have owned an Epson 400, Epson 500, and now an Epson 880 and I always leave the printer on without any problems to date (Approx 9 years total). I did lose my Epson 400 using third party ink. My Epson 500 still works and is now on another computer. |
