More slow ram vs less fast ram.

Hello. I'm running an older system, specs below, and have a question regarding performance and memory. As it is, I run 2GB of PC3200 Kingtonston HyperX memory at 2-3-2-6 1T. At times my computer seems a little sluggish after playing games and it seems more memory will help. I've checked task manager to verify that a vast majority of ram is being used. Here is my question, If i add 2GB more of the same memory, My mobo will automatically down clock the ram to DDR333Mhz and computer won't boot without setting command rate to 2T. For moderate gaming and sufing net, etc benefit from more slower ram or less faster ram? Also, OS is XP x64 so having 4 GB of ram is not a problem for me.

Why would your mobo down clock if you added more PC3200?

If you're certain that your using the majority of the 2 gigs....I would guess that adding more ram would be helpful.

Some boards do that when you fill all 4 slots, Steve. Sounds like a VIA chipset.
