unable to flash bios

I am trying to upgrade my BIOS. I have a very old mobo.

I made a bootable floppy, it booted, went thru the options, goes about 50%, then I get these two error messages:

Error L05 unable to prepare for flash erasure

Error H02 Initialization for flash programming failed.

I currently have BIOS version 1.00.02.DH05. I am trying to upgrade to
1.00.07.DH0

http://appsr.intel.com/scripts-df/fi...&strTypes=BIO%
2CDRV&ProductID=226&OSFullName=Non-OS+Dependent&submit=Go%21

My mobo is here:

http://support.intel.com/support/mot...sktop/tc430hx/

Any ideas on what the error messages mean? How do I find out what the problem is that it won't erase?

Thanks,
nightsneak

CRASH

1.download the update from your mother board manufacturer.
2.If you receive an error message don't try to continue, this may result in a permanent damage to the mother board.
3.esure that your bios isn't protected by a jumper.

I have checked and downloaded the correct bios update and made a bootable floppy. My jumper settings are here:
http://support.intel.com/support/mot...x/tc_confg.htm

I don't see anything that shows I need to change a jumper to update the bios?

Hmmm...I thought BIOS "recovery" meant going back to defaults. I guess I am reading too much.

Thanks so much for your time and attention. I had posted the problems several other places and no one took the time to look at the links.

I greatly appreciate it!

Bios Recovery will free the locked bios to be able to be burned (Flashed) - trust me - as soon the bios finds itself destroyed it will ask to use the floppy disk with the necessary data on it to restore the bios - If you like to overwrite the bios then also this jumper has to be set that you will be able that your data will accepted by the bios - This jumper LOCKS DOWN THE WRITE pin on the chip when set to 1+2.. it will ope the WRITE PIN when set to 2+3 .

Upgraded qutie a few Intels - and always on this way..
