copy my ide drive to my sata drive
hi. right im a bit of a novice at the computer build stuff, but am going to try and give this a go.
what i want to do is copy my ide drive to a new sata drive, i have read threw a few of the old topics on this but would like the best way to do this maybe norton ghost? which version would i need. im a bit unclear on how i would do the bios part if i needed to go into that? i have windows xp pro but no longer have the disks but would like to use a new sata drive as my ide one is small and full. any help would be appreciated and in a simple terms if possible, as i say im new to all this but going to try and give it a go lol. many thanks in advance Andy |

Install the SATA controller drivers. Buy a Western Digital SATA drive. Download Acronis from Western Digital. Install it, then make the boot CD. Put the boot CD in the drive, then shut down and install the new drive. Start it up, change the boot order to boot from CD first, and boot to the CD. One of the options will be to "clone" the drive.
