Angry Fire LG DVD drive not recognized!

I just got the new system up and running with the Asus P7P55 LX board and I can't seem to get the LG DVD Burner (IDE) to work. When the post goes through "Scanning Devices" on bootup, it hangs right there. I can see the drive in the setup screen, but it's not showing up in device manager in XP Pro. I pulled my 4 year old LG burner out of my old machine and got it working so I could install the OS, etc, but I can't seem to get this newer LG drive to work. I'm sure the drive is good, because it was working before the upgrade. Perhaps I've got something wrong in the drive setup screen in the bios? BTW, it's jumpered to CS and I've got it on the last connector (black) on the supplied ASUS IDE ribbon cable. The SATA Hdd is working fine.

Change the jumper to Master and give it a whirl.

Yeah, I was thinking of giving that a try. My old LG burner worked on CS though.

Just tried the jumper to master, and no luck. The drive doesn't show up in system/device mgr or My Computer. I'm new to this SATA/IDE combo used on the newer boards so maybe I've got something set up wrong?

Ron, the best solution is spend the 20 bucks for a SATA burner. The IDE controller on these new boards is 3rd party and is a PITA to work with.

Not really - if another IDE burner works in the machine and this one doesn't, there's not much you CAN do. Does the new burner work in the old machine? If so, just leave them swapped.

BTW,
The drive was working in his old system running XP Pro. I just did an upgrade to a new board, cpu, etc.
