Replacement PSU with room to upgrade
Hi folks,
The power supply in my 4 year old computer died and I'm looking to replace it with something that will still be good when I build a new computer in a year or so. I'm not a heavy gamer but I do play a bit and may be upgrading my current EVGA 8800GT to something better when the time comes. I was thinking about a Corsair 550 Watt PSU. Would this be likely to save me from buying a new PSU in a year when I rebuild? The main things I'm unsure about are how fast wattage needs are increasing and what direction pin layouts are going. I know it's sort of a speculative question, but there it is. Thanks! br Case: Antec Sonata II Mobo: Intel CPU: Intel 3GHz Single Core |

If you really want to futureproof yourself, get this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16817139006 750 watts, and end cost after rebate and free shipping is only $14 more. |

Yup, that PSU will run ANY single graphics card out there, even the 480 or 5970. Nice deal on that PSU as well!
