4k sector drives.

So i am planning on upgrading to windows 7 in the near future but i would like to dual boot with windows xp. Right now i am running a 1 Tb hard drive and when i upgrade to 7 i would like to add some more hard drive space. I was wondering if i would be better off running windows 7 on one of the new 4k sector drives. and just using my current drive to run xp and for storage. Are the 4k sector drives faster or something. Or would i be better off finding an older drive and using it.

Also after looking around on newegg how do you know if a hard drive has the newer 4k sector instead of the old or do i have to look at the manufactures website for those details

Thanks for the help
Ben

All hard drives will slowly but surely go to 4k sectors. WD calls them "advanced format" drives. XP does not like them at all. They are not necessarily faster, it just allows for higher platter density.

Advanced Format Technology is being adopted by WD and other drive manufacturers to increase media format efficiency, thus enabling larger drive capacities.

The only WD's that are 4k so far are a few Greens and Scorpio Blues.
