I put four 1TB hard drives into a RAID 5. My RAID controller shows the total RAID size as 3TB (as I would expect), but Disk Management only sees the disk size as 2047.84 GB rather than the ~2794 that I would expect. The OS (Windows 7 Enterprise) is installed on a separate physical drive (Disk 0 - 150GB), and I converted the RAID 5 drive (Disk 1) from MBR to GPT.
I'm not sure what else to do; I've tried everything I can possibly think of within Disk Management (including the CLI), but I'm not sure any of that matters since it doesn't even recognize that the drive is larger than 2TB. I'm thinking it's hardware related, some disconnect between the RAID controller and the OS, but I don't know what. The PC was home built, probably about 5.5 years ago, so a little old, but not bad. Any help would be appreciated. The only thing I can think of is the Highpoint controller doesn't support GPT, but I looked at the specs and it does show 64 bit LBA support for over 2 TB. The only controller I've ever used with GPT is an Adaptec, and I used 64 bit XP.

I had updated the BIOS, but definitely forgot to load the Windows 7 drivers. After doing that and rebooting, the full 2794 GB is showing up.
Thanks much! Sean |
