So I changed motherboards and...
I somehow burned up my 680w psu. I put an older one in thats around 300w, I think its the one that came in my computer originally. When I plugged in my phone to the front USB port, at first it did nothing, I used a different one in the front and it worked, I went back to the other one and it started smelling like something burned, I think it was my phone. Then I tried again and it shut my computer off. Is this because my power supply isn't producing enough power?
I am only running a 1gb video card, my hard drive, and my motherboard, and a CD drive. |

Gigabyte MA785GM-US2H Motherboard with 4.5gigs of ram atm
Radeon HD 1gb 3600 series Power supply is an APower power supply, it was pretty cheap. The current one is working fine as of right now, but I had power issues with it before. |

The video card alone requires 400 watts. You should upgrade that PSU.

Yep - 2 strikes - under recommended minimum power, and a questionable brand. Look at Antec and Corsair.
I betcha your so-called 680 was a cheap offbrand and that's why it burned up. |

You don't need anywhere near 680 watts, but you DO need a quality unit. Hence my recommendation for Antec and Corsair, probably the 2 most reliable brands out there.
