Wink Video to PC transfer

I would like to load analogue video images from a video recorder to my PC.
I have a AMD Duron 800MHz Socket on a Jetway Mainboard. There is 32Mb AGP TNT2 Video and am using windows me.

Can someone give me instructions or advice on how to or what other components I need to do this.

You'll need some form of capture card -- either a dedicated card like the Pinnacle DC10+ or a TV tuner card. WinME has built-in software to do basic video work (Movie Maker) so your set there. Also make sure your hardrive is fast enough -- minimum for any quality is 7200RPM ATA66.

I've never used Movie Maker, so here are some software issues to be mindful of -- working with AVI files (M$ default) can be tricky because of file size limitations. If Movie Maker allows you to, capture in MPEG-1: files sizes are much smaller, and the compression is less taxing on the CPU so you're less likely to have dropped frames.

That's the basics -- any other quesitons or if oyu want specifics, let us know.

You might consider an ATI TV WONDER PCI card. It comes with video capturing software!

BY all means look at getting the ATI All In Wonder video card, not only does it come with software, but also with all the interface connections, TV Tuner, TV Out, and Hardware DVD Decoder.

Having done a little video editing via a matrox rainbow runner card one thing is important, LOTS of memory and BIG hard drives are needed, the video files are very large and memory hungry.
The actual usage of the hardware (vdeo camera etc) is fairly simple, the card I had came with all the appropriate software needed, from memory it was Media Studio Pro V 5, or something like that.
the 800 mhz Duron should be able to manage, but if you get hooked and want to do a lot of video editing, you may find a complete upgrade a very good idea.
All you need is the capture card and software, the cables and connectors come with the card, watch out tho, they dont come cheap.
