RAM Detection Problem

I am in the process of upgrading an older computer. The problem I am having is getting the unit to recognize the new memory when it is installed. The board is an older AOpen AT form factor board that supports upto 128MB of EDO (in two banks)or one stick of PC-66> The board has jumpers for setting the voltage and the BIOS has an Manual, 60ns, and 70ns setting. According to the manual the 60ns or 70ns settings are auto detect.
When the PC66 is installed and the jumpers are set for the PC66 the start-up message screen still reads only 32MB but it does show that it has detected SDRAM. (This is the same amount of RAM that the machine had in it when the upgrade started.)The same thing happens when I have 128 MB of EDO RAM installed.
The upgrades I did to the computer, New Hard drive on a Controller Card, Sound Card, Modem, and Video Card, should not have caused a problem, or I do not believe that they would. There is no BIOS update that addresses this problem.
So any ideas?

you need to find out one thing only is the chipset a TX or TX compatible Chipset or is it a VX compatible one .. if it's VX then there is no way to place 128 Mb in one stick on the board - it will max out at 32Mb some very good boards at 64Mb - I have to see that one first because I haven't come across a VX board which will reconize more then 32mb dimm

If it's a TX then you need to look what kind of Dimms are supported some of them will not support Ram Sticks with more than 8 chips on one side - this means unbuffered Ram and other will only support buffered Ram..

If you can boot to windows - this is possible with 32mb then download Bios wizard Here and post back so I may will be able to tell you more - or someone else does..

I was able to get it to work (96MB RAM) by discarding the original 32MB sticks and using four new ones. The SDRAM will still not detect so the guy will have to settle for 96. And by the way this is a VX chipset.
