Recently subscribed to comcast@home cable internet service, I love the speed but its seems the cable modem does not keep the connection. After closeing the Explorer page or AOL and leaving the PC alone for a while (30 minutes or so) the modem loses the connection to the net and I have to reboot to reset the modem. I have used several diffferent makes of modems and re-checked all my settings constantly, to the point I am an expert at setting up cable modem settings. Could this be a software problem or OS problem???????

Are you using a USB connection?
Are you using a usb connection? or a Lan connection from the modem?

If you have the computer set to go into Standby Mode, this can cause a problem with the USB. You need to go to google.com and search for USB PROBLEMS IN STANDBY OR SUSPEND MODE.

If your modem is USB:
The first cable modem Comcast foisted upon me was a USB. I used it for about a month then called them and demanded a CAT5 type...mine would lose it, I'd just unplug the USB connector and plug it back in, or switch USB ports. If you haven't tried that yet, it's worth a shot. |
