Incoming & Outgoing analog calls with ISDN
Hi,
I'm using an Asuscom 128K ISDN adapter on a win2k pro system. I would like to exploit the dynamic feature of the connection, which allows a choice of 64 and 128 k connection, meaning BOD. When I configured the adapter for a BOD option, my internet connection, meaning the digital connection acted as wished. However, my analog phone has been downed whenever a 128 k was established. I wrote to Asus support and the answer I got was that "The BOD function only for those incoming or outgoing by the internal ISDN adapter." Can anything be done about this limitation? Is the a way to instruct the adapter to release a line whenever a request for such line is initiated through the analog line? Ran |

Hello and welcome to PC-Mech.
If I got you right you want to connect with 128K and still be able to use your phone. I may be wrong here but I believe this isn't possible. With ISDN you get 2 different lines and a transfer rate of 64K. To use 128K means that both ISDN lines are used for the internet and so there is no free line for the phone. RJ

Incoming & Outgoing analog calls with ISDN
Hi,
You did get me right, but only partially. With an ISDN connection, the maximun bandwidth I have is 128k. If I use the whole width for my digital connection, nothing is left for my analog connection. That's clear. My preference, though, isn't for having an analog connection ABOVE AND BEYOND the 128k. I would like my interent connection to shrink back to 64k, letting my analog connection materialize. Is this possible? If so, how? Ran |

I don't know about that particular adapter, but the one I saw working (Motorola BitSurfr external) you had to plug your analog phone into the correct port on the adapter and make driver adjustments to enable the feature you describe.
