Question Printer Manual Swich box

Hi There

I have 2 printers running on one computer, running off a manual switch box 1x Inkjet & 1x Impact when changing from the impact to inkjet i just get the odd garbled letters then nothing, i have to re-boot comp to get the inkjet to work properly, have no conflicts and switch box works when going from inkjet to inpact any ideas as to why? the injet is the default, would an auto switch box stop this error, or should i get a second printer port, which i have heard are difficult to configure so any help would appreciated.

Regards Paul

Many printer manufactures reccomend against switch boxes, manual or auto. I suggest that you get a Parallel port card and add another printer port. If you have a lot of expansion cards you might also want to get a dual port expansion card and disable the Motherboards Parallel port. A very good and inexpensive card is from Koutech and retailers can be found on pricewatch.com

Question Re: Switch box

Thanks for the reply

Are these extra Parallel port cards hard to configure or are they just the
plug and play type

Cheers Paul

They are just plug them in, let them detect, and load the drivers.
